If you live in a major metro area like me, from here it's a pain, eliminating all the stuff you really don't want to hear. Is it as good as the dispatch pagers (Unication G5) set to a limited set of channels? Manually programming, beyond the zipcode is difficult at best from the radio itself, and marginally better using the software. I do wish there were more accessories for it.

The location based site scanning is amazing. Youtube and RadioReference.

. WOW! Unless you are a major geek, this is not a good "first" scanner.

I would recommend this scanner to anyone. It performs as you would expect a real scanner to on digital and simulcast systems. I've had it for a month, and still have not fine tuned it for my needs. Failing to to get rid of the mostly dead freqs will cause you to miss many transmissions and/or the start of transmissions due to how long it takes to scan through them all and come back around.

They fixed this with an upgraded battery, and battery cover, which is how they are now shipping it. Then editing that down with the available free software with the provided USB cable is NOT intuitive.
