Just use a chisel and a hammer and they break open quite easily. Some lovely geodes. We got these for 3 kids (4, 7 and 8yo). We weighed them first to guess which would be solid (none were completely solid, two had very small spaces).

All our rocks were beautiful, no assistance was needed from adults so he enjoyed it more. Only opened 5 so far- couldn’t open one (daddy has to have a go when he comes home)4 are really nice- one not so hollow but great pot of the luck. They are very pretty. Nice geodes, and more were included than advertised (we got 13).

Photos ive attached dont do the geodes justice. My son enjoyed smashing each rock and investing what was inside. We bought the 10 pack so he was able to change how he hit them, light hit, powerful smash, chipping it with tiny taps lots of different ways to try and get the best crack.

Mixture of smaller bits that broke off into lots of pieces and some that broke straight in half. Can't wait to break them open with my crystal mad daughter christmas morning. We bought these for my son who loves rocks and crystals.
