I'm not a particularly practical person when it comes to doing stuff with wood but I needed to make a frame to box in a new cistern and bought this because I wanted a sliding mitre saw. And this is a blade that came with the saw with big old teeth on.

I've done things like this before and always ended up with something a bit 'rustic'. Now they say a bad workman blames his tools but I'd argue then when you have decent tools it makes it much, much easier for a bad workman (like me) to do a decent job.

The top of the frame had to sit inside a recess on the bottom of the water feature and it does that perfectly. I took it very slowly, used electrical tape where I was cutting and there is almost no sign of any chips to the covering.

When I built the box to hide the cistern, I also used this to cut the panels. I can only attribute this to the quality of this saw because I've never achieved this before. This casts the the shadow of the blade onto what you're cutting which makes it very easy to line things up. I've just built another structure to raise a water feature on the garden off the ground.

Luckily they were 60cm wide so I used the slide to cut half way through, turned the panel round and did the same in the other direction so I was cutting from the middle to the edge. The result is millimetre perfect.
