First of this author’s books I’ve read but I expect I’ll read them all. This: ✨ Set sometime in the present (maybe right now?

G. L. Wilson

So funny, absolutely tears along - I finished it in a day as the pace is frenetic. And every single one of them was described in such a wonderful way that I’m pretty sure they’re real people – even the minor characters have a back story.

Stephen Moffatt

While it's no great work of literature (and I'm sure that was never the intention) it is certainly an enjoyable and entertaining read with a well defined cast of characters and sense of place. It’s got baddies. K.

While following up on some rather dubious stories, the paper's staff become embroiled in a case much weirder and much stranger than anything covered in their publication. So what’s managed to wriggle its way into my cold, dead heart? If you like Pratchett, Gaiman and Aaronovitch you’ll love this!

Some I’d be pals with, others I’d perhaps wave at from across the street. Think the Elvis-is-my-parrot or my-toilet-is-possessed-by-Satan kinda crowd. It concerns the staff of a Manchester-based publication known as "The Stranger Times" which is a newspaper reporting on the weird and wonderful; think of it being somewhere between the Fortean Times and America's National Enquirer tabloid newspaper. Inject it right into my eyeballs, please.

Ain’tcha a little delight? Then there’s Banecroft – the drunken editor of The Stranger Times. It’s got magic. Grouped together, they form the editorial team for this little paper and they quickly find themselves in the middle of an investigation where the weird shit cannot be ruled out.
