Overall, a good and interesting read, but if you're more interested in the visuals you might be a bit disappointed. Lots of interesting and well written text in this history of London. The photo portion is a bit disappointing. Glossy paper would have also improved the quality of the images.
While I can appreciate authenticity, a bit of retouching here and there would have been welcome. And some photos are from the Kodachrome era and seem both faded and over bright at the same time. The history of London obviously predates photography by many centuries, so many of the pictures are reproductions of drawings and paintings.
