It is recommended to give the plant support. Soil requirement: rich in organic matter, well drained, fertile Growing Cucamelons grow best in full sun and well-drained soil. Outdoor Sowing

  • Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil.
  • Provide support for the vines to climb on, such as a trellis or netting.
  • 10 Seeds per packet
  • Thin seedlings to 12 inches apart.
  • Keep soil moist and place trays in a warm location with plenty of light.
  • Sow seeds indoors in early spring, 6-8 weeks before last frost date.
  • Harvest cucamelons when they are the size of a grape or small cucumber, about 1-2 inches long.

They grow quite spindly and delicate. It was my first time growing cucamelons from seed and was worried as had never bought from this company before. The girls love them and they are a novelty.

Only thing I would change is when, I bought possibly a little late so would plan a bit better next time. I’ve sown 9 seeds of the 65 in the packet with 100% success 9 days ago! Germinated well, slugs love the baby plants.

To get the bowl full advertised would take an age or several plants all producing at the same time. Great for snacks, novelty, quick grow with kids. Came in a ridiculous sized package for size of seed packet, see picture. Plants are growing and looking very healthy so hopefully I will get a good crop from these babies.

They grow quite tall too and require support. Excellent result, I can’t comment on fruit viability yet but very happy so far! They are also known as a Mexican sour gherkin.
