Don't take your eyes off the nanny though. With so many twists and turns, the mystery was kept alive right the way through till the end. I had no idea where the story was taking me, although I did have some suspicions, I could not settle on one, and besides, none were quite right and the ending was one which I did not predict at all.

Well, THAT turned out to be interesting. Mrs England is another character I thought was great, very captivating and despite differences about her from the start of the book throughout to the end, I grew to really like her and root for her.

Absolute five stars from me! She is to become the nanny to four young charges, the children of Mr and Mrs England, wealthy mill owners who live in a remote house situated in Hardcastle Crags in West Yorkshire. *5 stars* As the atmosphere and situation in the house deteriorates and becomes more disturbing it forces Ruby to relive the terrible aspect of her childhood.
