Your heart will break for this once bright, vivacious young girl who has felt loss like no other and has loved with all her heart. This book is not my usual genre but i'd have missed out had I not read it. 💭Thoughts💭I stumbled upon this in Tesco, hadn't seen anything about it on Bookstagram so thought I would give it a go and I'm so glad I did because I adored this book! If I was to meet her in person I may well have felt differently, but she endeared herself to me with her routines and her outlook on life and the world.

I'm not usually one for too much description but I was transported to Antarctica and have a new found love for penguins 🐧 Laugh out loud moments but a truly heartfelt read 📖 will be buying it my mum for Mother's day 📙 📚 She’s as determined as ever, never letting her aged limbs stop her from embarking on the adventure of a lifetime. Would highly recommend the book itself, well worth a read. It's got themes of loneliness, family and love!

What I wouldn’t give to be by her side in that beautiful landscape, surrounded by such vivacious and determined creatures. She keeps herself to herself, and everything has to be just so, which causes a headache for her housekeeper Eileen! I would definitely recommend this book to others. Life as she knows it will soon change when she connects with her long lost grandson and some Adele Penguins!

She comes across as a cantankerous old women at the start but really she's learnt to keep her guard up to shelter herself from hurt! Throughout the book I felt inspired, compassion, thoughtful and heartened.

I was desperate to see how Veronica’s story ended, but also full of sadness that I’d finished it. She discovers she has a grandson but they don’t really hit it off and so she needs to find a good charity to leave her fortune to. I asked for this book. During the book she also discovers she has a grandson - Patrick.
