These are all illustrated story images much like Harry Potter. I know people can misconstrue the meaning of these symbols, so it's just something one should be aware of before gifting/etc. Especially since I have a Black cat.

The image on the front of the box is clearly a cat with a crystal ball showing this deck has lots a fun magical images. - The background isn't plain like most cards. .

The artwork on them is very detailed. If you think this joke is offensive or that these paper cards are somehow going to summon evil because of this, I would recommend finding different ones. He loves them too : )They are great for halloween or any occasion playing cards. No duplicates unless you count the two jokers (which are the same art - but different colors).

- The red is more of a burgundy with a golden pattern woven throughout. I showed my friend these and she fell in love with them too.

Initially, I was a little disappointed that only the face cards had the kitties, but I kept it 5 stars because 1) after looking, this was mentioned in the description, 2) I suppose that would be hard to put on the number cards with it looking cluttered, and 3) each face card features a its own unique cat, so that makes up for it I feel. They feel as sturdy as any other card deck that I have so that's good. - They have a wonderful texture!

Pentagrams were a common symbol in ancient churches in the UK lots of images can be found with google search “pentagrams in British churches” as the symbol dates back century’s Otherwise a great deck of cards, and one I enjoy a lot more than other decks (which were more than twice as much).
