In a GUI environment, 'gparted' is another way to partition the drive. However, I would still say it's worth it. In that role, the drive spent most of it's time spun down.

Real capacity is 2. It's big, and the speed is pretty standard.

That took 48 hours of continuous stress to complete, which it did with no errors. It was initially subjected to a burn-in period using the linux utility 'badblocks'. The hard drive will no longer mount after 6 months, and I get the following error on boot: Hard drive won't mount, I get a "Sec Master Hard Disk: S.
