Thing is sharp and small. Held up pretty good.

Seems price has been inflated quite a bit! The primary reason for my 4 star review is frustration that the sheath is made in Taiwan. Great for backpacking or a camping trip. The only thing that I found annoying was the very difficult to remove labels (see photo).

20 Edit: I paid way less for this hatchet several months ago. I had originally questioned what the 12" actually meant (top of blade to bottom of handle) and if the blade would be the same size on both but just with a shorter handle (no). I wanted a more traditional looking axe rather than some of the more modern ones which I'm sure do the same job, just aren't necessarily as aesthetically pleasing.

Thanks to the top customer review (excellent review BTW) I did the sanding and oiling of the leather and it helped a lot. It will still work as an axe but it just wont feel good on the hands. I had gone back and forth about getting the 14" vs.

Hones really well. 12" but didnt have much to base that decision on, which is what I will primarily try to address in this review. How much more can it possibly cost ?
