It's hard to summarise the whole of the revelations and lessons learned from allowing marginal farm land to revert to it's natural type (with the assistance of some natural grazers, the 'mouths in the landscape'), but there are many "I didn't know that/that's fascinating" moments. This is one of those annoying books that not only does everyone who's read it tell you that: "You must read this", it's also one of those books that (they'll tell you) "Should absolutely be on the national curriculum".

In this age when we're facing a host of climate related problems - I hope many more people read and take on board the lessons from Wilding, not least our leaders and policy makers. This is a wise, thoughtful, philosophical book but also very practical, non-nonsense and very entertaining.

It is well referenced and provides a wealth of other resources for which to do further reading on. Can't return as it's an important gift and no time to get a swap. Annoying. An amazing, inspirational and insightful look at our depleted landscape and wildlife.

And warn whoever's near you while you're reading it - you'll probably interrupt them several times with many natural history based gems. An incredible book that should be a must read for everyone and a book I will undoubtedly read again and again. A varied look at all aspects of nature, deeply insightful. It proves just what an incredible effect giving land back to nature can have, not only for biodiversity, but also for tackling modern global issues such as the climate emergency.

I never leave reviews but this is an exception, I just HAD to leave one! Fundamentally this is a joy to read.

Suffice to say, I would completely agree with those views, this is a really significant book. Book seems good but it was delivered with a large tear in the cover.

Educational without being preachy, accessible without being simplistic.
