Before reading any review read this: there is a key problem with the way this section is set up. BOTTOM LINE SATISFACTIONAll things considered the WD is consistently a few bucks more than the other brand and I’m not a big fan of ever paying more if I don’t have to. Once I remove those, the hard drive slid straight out from its connector. It won't allow anything larger than 6 terabytes and it came with a 2 terabyte hard drive.

I’ve been buying this brand of security system for years and have been very happy with it and when I wanted to increase my drive capacity from 2TB to 4TB I had no idea if switching to a WD brand drive would make any difference at all. Just don't purposely Shuffle on carpeting or known areas of static electricity build up cuz this can damage your equipment!

We can say categorically that the brand or type of hard drive you use will not improve the image resolution (picture quality) of your system. The two processes are entirely different job tasks.

Very easy to install, just hook-up the two leads and it's ready to operate after the NVR has formatted the HD. And it takes a very long time to transfer 122 terabytes of information from the NVR to a micro SD card or an SD card then uploading to an external hard drive or computer.

The original drive was operating at 97. Some people take anti static fabric sheets and rub them on themselves or they rub their hands on metal to make sure they discharged the static electricity from their body. Drive noise2.

Chose WD for my HDD as I have had very good experiences with this manufacturer before. My NVR is one of the most respected out there for users who have a lot of experience and they chose to use the other brand of hard drive. To be clear, I am talking about the improved New Generation style. Before handling the hard drive, before you take it out of its package - you MUST DISCHARGE ANY STATIC ELECTRICITY FROM YOURSELF, YOUR WORK AREA, AND ITEMS TO BE USED!

That 6 degree difference is significant but not substantial. The recording/playback heads are only required to jump to another spot on the disk when you want to play back an event. Has now been running for nearly 4 weeks without any issues.
