But for a stocking filler for a kid, sure, it would keep them interested, I think. Door number one contains a deep violet stone. There is a chart enclosed, listing the stones with an image of each and some details about them, but this is more about ‘meanings’ than their scientific composition or geographical origins, but as they are all named on the chart, children can look up the stones and do their own research about any aspects they are curious about. This is such a lovely idea for a advent calendar.

. We couldn't wait until Christmas but still opened them up in order in case there was something special at number 24. There is no recycling mark on the plastic tray, but it can be used to keep the stones in after advent, so may not need to be disposed of. Only negative was that the little hammer broke but that might just be user error and the blocks were easy enough to break with other tools.

I used to collect stones like this when I was younger and my son has claimed my collection so I thought he might like this. I liked that they weren't all just round pebble shaped but some cubes. It’s a nicely boxed advent calendar with 24 doors, behind each of which is a polished pebble.

I understand the crystals have been “tumbled” so they look polished. Such good value for money, my 23 year old boyfriend really enjoyed it! The box is recyclable cardboard, so that is good.

It would be even better if there was a little mantra or affirmation on the doors but other than that I’m not complaining. And as a geology student myself I found the fact cards really cool and great for teaching people about minerals and gemstones. Great idea for an advent calendar, my daughter collects crystals and stones like these so was a great find.

There is a great selection of crystals included and a card with information about the stone. Love the shape of the stones included in the selection. There were some really pretty ones and my son quickly sorted them into the ones he liked and didn't like (I'll have those then! I was rather disappointed that the stones were not identified with a label or something similar.

It would make a nice gift for someone to open over the Christmas period. I only opened one window as I want to keep it for December. If you are a stones/crystal expert, then you may find this set good, I really do like the idea, far more interesting than just little chocolates, but wish the identification was clearer.
