The lens build quality is good for the money, it is a plastic lens but to me I think of the weight saving this brings rather than looking at it as a negative. Update 19/8/16 . 6 300 mm ISO 4004.

Surrealistic
If you are after your first telephoto zoom lens or are looking for a replacement for the Sony kit zoom lens and have not got £500 to spend, then I can certainly recommend this lens. At 62mm diameter it is also a better light gatherer (the Sony is 55mm dia) which helps to keep the shutter speed up in overcast conditions.

Yes, it is prone to hunting whilst auto focusing BUT my Nikon 70-300mm G lens can be dreadful so the prospect of this doing the same was not a major stumbling block. The lens complements and takes over from my other lens, in pic, which is an 18 to 70mm so now in total have a huge zoom range of 18 to 300. Well, I really like this lens.

There's no vibration reduction here; you're going to struggle to get very good hand-held shots at long focal lengths, particularly in less than bright conditions, but if you plan to shoot landscapes/nature, you're likely to use a tripod anyway. 3 260 mm ISO 2003.
