It's a hard press to find a better self-contained story in recent memory from DC. These and many other questions answered on this read. Probably the best non-canon dceu book written in the last year.

I'm a fan of Wonder Woman but even people who may not really care about the character will absolutely love this title. The pace is great. Only four chapters that I would have been able to finish in a breeze if it wasn't for the spectacular artwork. No fanservice to be found here for Diana, unless you count Wonder Wonder kicking ass as fanservice, then you'll get a lot of that.

Why is she different? No backstory needed and yet the story itself has quite a bit of mythology entangled in.

Who are the Amazons? Where does Diana come from? Besides a couple o New 52 volumes, I hadn't read any other Wonder Woman comics. This is coming from a non-connoisseur of WW comics, but I totally recommend this whether you want to go deeper into the source character like I do or if the current films left you wanting more.
Daniel Warren Johnson is a class of his own and this book converted me. Dead Earth was a perfect fit for a "new" WW reader like myself. This is one of the best things DC has published under their Black Label initiative (the o6tger being Sejic's book Harleen). Expressive art, a harrowing post apocalyptic vision, and true to the characters.
The art and writing are perfect and I highly highly suggest you immediately buy it.
