About this deal
Tasting Notes:
Ordered a bottle of Bruichladdich Islay Barley. Color: dark golden amber Taste: plenty of malted barley that is quickly joined by the classic sherry cask characteristics - dried fruits (think of raisins and sultanas), candied peel (especially oranges), nuts (imagine walnuts and almonds) and caramel. I reckon it would've remained intact had it dropped six feet. This addition to the Dalmore range is brought to us by Richard Paterson and is aged for a minimum of 18 years in American Oak casks followed by Matusalem Sherry Casks and then another Sherry casks before even touching a bottle! Splendidly sherried Highland single malt, brimming with candied citrus, dark chocolate, coffee, and spice. Finish: The finish is rich, fruity (the dried fruit and candied peel again) with a warm spiciness (imagine cinnamon with some cloves? There is plenty of dried fruit, especially raisins, and this is complimented by a lovely woody and nutty spiciness (think of a combination of cinnamon, nutmeg and walnuts). This Dalmore 18 years old has been recently released in Autumn 2009 and is a limited edition bottling. Dalmore's stunning 18 year old Highland malt is as rich, fruity and spicy as you could ever want from a Dalmore.
