Read this on hol, where we had our own sea gate. Full of intrigue, secrets, betrayal, love and family dynamics. What a charming story, well written. A bit of escapism, with beautiful descriptions.

This book is an absolute delight- to savour and to escape into a world of unexpected twists and turns and shows how life can take you far from where you perceived you were destined. An avid fan of all of Jane Johnson’s books I was very excited about the release of ‘TheSea Gate’.
Centred around an atmospheric house on the Cornish Coast- (the landscape and building are as strong in character as the people) the plot weaves around the lives of two inextricably linked women 70 years apart. I cannot recommend enough! You are transported inside the characters both mentally and in historical context- Johnson’s research/talking to elder Cornish folk adds to the richly observed backdrop.
