It's quite a heavy cake, but the flavour is awesome. I did have a go at the lemon cake (orange in the book), but there was alternative ingredients.

I have to say it is very tasty, I have never made a lemon cake using the whole fruit, pulped. salted water). Brought for Xmas present for my grandad as he recently went to Sicily and he absolutely loved it!

Another brilliant thing about this book is that at the end, it gives a kind of index of people mentioned in the book, and their various businesses, which might (I still have to check) export their products, depending where you are located. Some of the other ingredients I think you would struggle to find, unless you live in a major city with specialists delicatessens, or you could source them online. I love cooking, and I love Mediterranean food, so I thought this would be perfect for me.
