Keeping the memory of Spinalonga alive due generations to come. Every year Rita and her family go to visit her Yiayia, her grandmother, on the greek island of Crete and stay for a while.

We are 1/3 the way through and will finish the book before we take strip to Spinalonga later this week. I hope my daughter will return one day with her children and share the story again.
The illustrations really make this book more special and more fun to read. My daughter is engrossed in the book and we have talked about a mothers love for a child and how Maria’s mother would do anything to protect her children. When we arrived my parents were already here and mum had found a signed copy of this book in a shop here and bought it for my daughter (this overwhelmed me and I couldn’t wait for us to share the story).
This is a special book and I know it will remain in our family for years to come. Each of the pictures feels so fun and lovely and I love how all of the characters look.
