Firstly, you don't need to be a massive rugby fan to read this book. I am an ex-player of the game at a very junior level and as a fan, have been privileged to see Doddie play on numerous occasions at my local club Newcastle Falcons, but actually the part of the book I appreciated the most was Doddie's approach to dealing with his MND (Motor Neurone Disease) diagnosis in 2017. I found myself trying to stop the dust that had entered the room getting into my eyes on more than one occasion.
He was a legend on the rugby field and will undoubtedly be an ongoing source of inspiration for many who are faced with a similarly life-changing event. I would heartily recommend this book for ANYONE who has either received a life-changing medical diagnosis or knows someone who has. Doddie was kind enough to sign the book for me before it was shipped.
