In her acknowledgements at the end, Eva Carter explains her reason for writing this theme. (I don't think I missed an episode in all its years on air) and a fellow Brighton dweller, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this novel when I heard of its publication - it ticked so many boxes for me. It's been over a year since the pandemic started, forcing millions across the world to consider their own mortality and face the death of their loved ones - a topic this novel explores.
Sarah Rayner, author
I loved how each section comes with a warning page to raise awareness and the fact the author has her own experience of cardiac arrest when she was there and reacted in time to save her husband. Without immediate help, fewer than one in ten people will survive. At work, in the park, at home, even in the pub.

*"It’s ordinary people like us, not doctors, who are most likely to be there when the worst happens. *"Imagine a room with a hundred people in it: a packed pub, maybe, full of people you know and care about. 😁👍

A person’s chance of recovery depends on what happens next– starting with you. It will be difficult not to leave spoilers but I promise I will not inhibit your experience of this book. And she has done it so well.
All that said, this is a very important book that should help raise awareness of many issues, and one in particular. This book was absolutely amazing and I couldn't put it down.
