" . Every single character felt real, fleshed out, had their own story! The famous physician Gabor Maté said that there are two responses to trauma: you either learn from it, or you absorb it and enact it on others. She is the daughter of a well-regarded Greek doctor; however, the fate of the family takes a turn for the worse when her father dies leaving her mother and herself destitute.

The cast of characters are all so well written, the slaves in the brothel, other slaves in Pompeii, the tavern workers in The Elephant & the Sparrow. "𝐈 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝𝐧'𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐥𝐬𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐈 𝐬𝐚𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮. I’m not going to lie - I don’t know much about Pompeii or the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, but god could I imagine everything in this book. He is awful.

𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐭𝐡 𝐬𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐡𝐞𝐫. Amara is a terrific protagonist. For a moment, she thinks of Felix. It’s haunting!

The book has so many details and little plots going on with a whole range of amazing characters to both root for and hope terrible things happen to the others! Set in Pompeii's lupanar, The Wolf Den is the first in a trilogy of novels reimagining the lives of women who have long been overlooked.
