I love a moral dilemma and the gray areas between and this focuses on 3 parent/child relationships with subplots that keep you engaged and guessing as there’s lots to work out and piece together. DAMN. I have read some reviews that complain about a slow start to this one, but I disagree!

This makes for both a stimulating and hugely engrossing read. When the author is gearing up for major twists and surprises, a little set up is needed! I flew through this book because I simply needed to know how it would conclude. It has an intricate plot and it is chock-full of surprises!

We can all relate, we can all gasp out loud and we can all have our minds blown by her incredible talent! However, the raw emotion, the grit, the determination, and the strife are universally relatable. The characters are well-developed; from Julia’s mom guilt as she attempts to balance work and home, to Lewis’s grief that is the driving force behind his actions. I was so invested in all the various narrative streams and the whole cast of characters.

The story had me constantly guessing, questioning everything and leaving me unsure of who I could trust. For me, I found this book had such an impact and made me relate to each of the main characters as I contemplated how I’d act if it was one of my children and me in the situation. It’s almost a love letter to the lengths we will go to for our children. Intense, unnerving and perfectly paced.
When I was able to keep my jaw from the floor, this book was also so interesting from a thematic perspective. This author truly gets better and better with each book.

CHUFFIN’. This book is simultaneously so plausible and straightforward in its final revelations, yet so incredibly clever. As a reader, I was nervous that I would be constantly comparing JAMP to this powerhouse of a mind-blowing thriller. As Julia and her team investigate this puzzling mystery, Julia is suddenly accosted by a man in a balaclava who instructs her to frame and arrest a particular man for Olivia’s murder, OR he will reveal to the world a crime involving her own daughter that Julia has covered up!
