Not only was it a great read it also looks great on my shelf and I will read it again. I’m happy to report that These Twisted Bonds upped the stakes in my enjoyment and it was a gripping read. I hope that Ryan considers writing more novels that exist in the fae realm because I am not ready to say goodbye after reading this duology! I loved where the story went next - it's action packed with a healthy dash of romance to boot.

Despite the golden queen’s plans to destroy the shadow court looming overhead, Brie’s partaking in aspects of the ritual (like trekking up the mountain, making offerings to Lugh, and dancing) changes both the reader’s and Brie’s perceptions of the Unseelie from cruel and evil fae to innocent beings. The writing, the character building, the plot twists! As she learns to adapt to her new body and powers, she doesn't allow herself to trust anyone. Ryan also does a great job slowly uncovering the mystery surrounding Brie’s past and her magical abilities.
This aspect of the novel’s conflict is beautifully executed by Ryan and adds complexity to Brie’s character. Prince Ronan’s betrayal only deepens Brie’s connection with Prince Finnian and the shadow court by proxy.
I think maybe I was more settled in this world of complex allegiances and I finally found where to set my loyalty to the characters and couple potentials. Oh gosh I just can't.
