The oceans will thank us for it. Don McCullin (b. All she knew was that she was running for her life, that if she and her family stayed behind they would die - from starvation, or disease, or even execution. 'Yeonmi Park was not dreaming of freedom when she escaped from North Korea. This book is the story of Park's struggle to survive in the darkest, most repressive country on earth; her harrowing escape through China's underworld of smugglers and human traffickers; and then her escape from China across the Gobi desert to Mongolia, with only the stars to guide her way, and from there to South Korea and at last to freedom; and finally her emergence as a leading human rights activist - all before her 21st birthday. For most of his career McCullin has embarked on personal projects, many of which focused on working class communities in the north of England, or the unhoused in London.

Jenna

You can tell she is someone routed in reality (rare in this political climate) and lays out the facts with space for YOU to explore how YOU feel and think. Such an exceptional book which reminded me to not take my freedom for granted and to be grateful for the little things in life. The text print is black and crisp. I have more gratitude than ever to live in such a wonderful part of the world where people actually have rights.

99 the quality is as you would expect. You truly do not know how lucky you are until you learn how unlucky others are. It is easy to read and forthright in its presentation. However, the book is a real life experience.

After reading "Nothing to Envy" by Barbara Demick- I became even more intrigued by the country of North Korea and I felt drawn to Yeonmi's story because I wanted to know more. probably took me 12-15 hours to read. One can't overlook the horrifying experiences of a defector and the subjugation of citizens by North Korean propaganda.

What a harrowing, bone chilling story. The U. We have lived the easy life for so long that to us, dictatorships and evil regimes are just shadows and rumors. I didn't find anything exaggerated.

It has given me an idea of what life is in North Korea. I found it so interesting that I finished reading this book in 4 days! A must read book for this present day… much work and prayers for all of us Christians to help God with in protecting HIS kids on planet earth.

Book Production 4. Yeonmi is a gripping writer and her thoughts flow so naturally on the pages. God will surely bless Yeonmi for having the courage to write this revealing book. I'm not an overly emotional person and although I didn't cry, I did tear up.

Razvan

has become so ignorant of places like North Korea and China. A reader needs to understand that point of view. I am praying for her as she heals from much…
