Shauna D. McHenry
They describe hardships and the reality of society at that time, beliefs and their own circumstances. I felt so much emotion reading this and I was completely moved by the harrowing events each woman had endured and how they overcame all the pain and heartbreak. The whole book feels calming and I just wanted to hug all the women, including the supporting characters. The men in the book are rather unfortunately obnoxious except for Graham, Violet’s brother who eventually proves his worth.

At first you can’t see how each story is linked, but by the end of the book it is perfectly clear. Everywhere they were hunted down and accused of being witches.

It doesn’t really put men in a good light at all, but it works and it is stunning. I loved the vivid descriptions of the sites and sounds of nature.

Each story was as equally fascinating as the next. Honestly, go into this novel with not knowing much more than that.
