One light takes 3 AAA batteries. The adhesive on the magnets doesn't stick to my walls but I already had a stronger 3m double stick mounting tape and use that.

the 2nd light will end up in the recycling as soon as I accept that it's money lost. If you think it might be too bright for your hallway light, use it for your garage or closet, which I think it's great idea if you want to grab things at night time or when you're garage is closed and you need some sort of lighting without sensor.

It's completely dark when the bdrm light isn't on, even in the daytime. It comes with adhesive magnets. It's powerful.

With this product, it has the on/off switch, so I can just turn if on every night and turn it off in the morning when I don't need it. Trust me, and try it out yourself. Light off/light on with backlight from the bedroom. Those photos I uploaded will give you a sense of how bright it is.
