Maggie's marriage has ended just 608 days after it started, but she's fine - she's doing really good, actually. How many Night Burgers until I’m happy? Laugh-out-loud funny, razor sharp and painfully relatable, Really Good, Actually is an irresistible debut novel about the uncertainties of modern love, friendship and happiness from a stunning new voice in fiction, Monica Heisey. but at the age of twenty-nine, Maggie is determined to embrace her new status as a Surprisingly Young Divorcee ™. Sure, she's alone for the first time in her life, can't afford her rent and her obscure PhD is going nowhere. One of the most hotly anticipated, hilarious and addictive debut novels of 2023, from Schitt’s Creek and Workin’ Moms screenwriter and electric new voice in fiction, Monica Heisey.

! Maggie is a disaster and I love it. Loved the Harry Styles fantasy scene also, pure gold!

Yes, this book is sad and touching, but it is also very, very funny. I really enjoyed reading this and following Maggie's journey into a newly found single life, even when she was being annoying and mean to her friends.

We all feel hopeless and become a bit insufferable after a break up and this book chronicles a little segment of this experience. This isn’t the type of book I usually read & I only bought it cus I liked the cover.

I never really believe it when blurbs or reviews say the book will make you laugh out loud, but this one had me absolutely CACKLING multiple times. The book is self-deprecating, comforting and witty. Maggie annoys her friends, spams her ex, doesn't quite know how to exist on her own. Monica Heisey covers all the bases with this novel, with a big heaping of dry humour and relentless emotions and mistakes.

No, not really, but it's more about Maggie's personal journey and relationships, both romantic and personal, with friends and family. But it's not just a funny book - it has so much to say about relationships, both romantic and platonic, and so much about being a young woman in today's judgy society that i found it to be really quite reassuring and comforting.

(Sorry, I couldn't resist. Really Good, Actually follows Maggie- recently divorced, recently cat-less and on the lookout for a new flat after her ex-husband moves out.

Is there a fantastically in-depth plot? Because who wouldn't be after a divorce where you have lost the cat? I can't wait for what Monica Heisey writes next, and can't wait to give this to all my friends for their birthdays this year! I’m glad I did though because I really enjoyed it.
