About this deal
Sold on a Monday by Kristina McMorris Napierville, Illinois: Sourcebooks, 2019. Again, this sets her apart. Details: If Cussy wants to bring the joy of books to the hill folks, she's going to have to confront prejudice as old as the Appalachias and suspicion as deep as the holler. Because this condition has been linked to in-breeding, it has been the subject of very exaggerated negative stereotypes both within and beyond the region. Paperback.

I even started my review as I went along because I didn’t want to forget the emotions that it was evoking in me. Set in Kentucky during the Depression, it tells the story of one traveling librarian- Cussy Mary Carter. This novel is a love letter to books. She may be the hero of the entire book!

The characters had personalities that go far beyond being well developed and heart felt. This animal is cranky, brave and a fantastic judge of character. Read this book! In a few lifetimes, how things have changed and evolved is really impressive.

I read it in less than a day because once I started, I couldn’t stop. 📚 Cussy travels her route with her badass mule Junia.

Pages 247-278 were printed upside down. The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek I really have no idea why this book isn’t getting more hype.
