This was the best solution I could find online. This was really easy to install and does a great job reducing the heat hitting our wooden mantle. This definitely works to keep the cabinets from getting too hot when the gas fire is on!

Don't know why the company doesn't just do this already. You will not be sorry if you buy this. Our stove is halfway in the fireplace and halfway out onto the hearth. After that screwing in was the easy part.

I’ll be covering up the ugly outer edge of the insulation with 1” black aluminum U channel material I just ordered. Bought this to deflect the heat coming off my gas fireplace away from the mantel and the TV that's mounted above it. The only recommendation I have is to supply 6 spacers and 6 drilled holes rather than 4.

Mantel deflector worked perfectly for my mantel, but it came dented and scratched. Product deflects heat nicely from wood mantle. We’ve had this stove for 10 years and never realized how hot the mantle was underneath until my wife touched it while the stove was burning hot and nearly burned her hand. We carefully folded the edge using cloth to protect finish and pliers.
