Leila and Yasmin aren’t the most likeable characters, they aren’t without flaws, but it makes them more relatable. Yasmin? Their emotions throughout the book are captured perfectly, you feel their every emotion at some point in the story, pain, anger, loss, grief, hate and despair.

Both? I knew that Kia Abdullah will do a great job and I was right. I’ll be looking forward to her next thriller. The one thing I really enjoy about this author’s books is nothing is ever black and white there are many shades in between leaving the reader to debate in their head what they would do if found in a similar position.

Abdullah writes beautifully, crafting a believable, extremely painful relationship between sisters Leila and Yasmin and weaving acute observations on motherhood and how society treats the childless into this tragic tale. But she forgets, and now Max is dead. The characters are so authentic it makes you feel like they're the real people. Just as stellar as Truth Be Told and Take It Back.

The court scenes are tense and hard-hitting, the plot is far from predictable. Next Of Kin is a tragic tale about two sisters, Leila and Yasmin.

Shocking revelations are revealed as sibling jealousy and resentment rears its ugly head. The planning that went into this makes you think that everything has been well thought out but they were so wrong as no one knew the secrets! I highly recommend it and I hope it gets translated to Polish and many other languages. I loved the book right from the start even though it left me sobbing hysterically.
