Ordered this product at 10pm last night and it arrived at 12pm today! The build quality feels like it’s a much more expensive model. However, I am looking at it with the point of view of being nearly sixty and disabled. It found a 2p coin about 4 inches under soil which can't be bad.

You cannot go far wrong with this pointer now I have used it on several outings its key kit and I will not need to upgrade something that cannot be better. The packaging it arrives in is functional and solid - does the job, and the instructions are clear.

Although it works by vibration and a light that changes colour as the detector nears the target, I find this more helpful than bleeping and means that there are no holes in the body for speaker sounds to emanate from. I review a reasonable number of products, but I haven’t really used a metal detector before, never mind reviewed one. It comes with battery and belt-holster. This can be adjusted with the telescopic grip, which means that children of all ages could use the product.

It states up to 4 cm but it is more like 5 or 6 cm depending on your initial set up. I've been testing out this pinpointer today and it seems to work well. As you will see from the pictures it has been subjected to some muddy hands. This one only cost me just over £40 so you can't expect too much.

It has everything you need to get started including a small trowel and even a PP3 battery to power the unit. Each target was taking around 10 mins to find which is quite annoying when you end up finding an old rusty nail or similar.

But there is nothing cheap in this pointer the polymer plastic is superb it must be a abs hybrid polymer. This was one of the reasons that I thought that a fully waterproof detector would be useful - it rains a lot where I live!

I wanted a waterproof pinpointer and this unit is waterproof up to 10m depth so perfect for what I need. If I had one gripe, I would say that the build quality is alright in some places (the handle for example) and the body could have been made of metal for greater strength. So far there has been no need to balance the detector in the soil, just hold it in the air, press the on button and wait a couple of seconds for it to be ready (the light flashes and it vibrates). My only regret is not buying three for the 10% discount as I will probably get my stepdad one for Christmas and for the price I would like a spare one.
