I then tested it again - when the cat stuck her head into the tunnel part of the flap - where the microchip reader is - and it unlocked the flap again. I have two cats and bought this for two reasons:1) To give them free access in and out the house. Both of my cats are micro chipped but the fella you see in the picture. I had an old manual cat flap installed in the shed - the side wall before.

The kitts

His microchip has migrated from his neck so I also invested in the collar tags that go with this catflap. I’m also not too sure about draughts or whether spiders/bugs will be able to come through. It was very simple to program it with one button press and then offering the unit up to the cat to register it. I then installed it in the shed and placed lots of pouch food inside the shed for the cats to see through the door to tease them in.

I bought this cat flat to be fitted in the shed. Overall, I would have given this 5 stars, but dropping it to 4 stars due to the battery life. So when the cat flap arrives you can fit it straight away as batteries are no included. It looks very nice and it works although the cat flap entrance is quite small, my two cats are between 3.

Will amend once I’ve seen how this second set last. Given it 4 stars as had to fiddle to get it fixed to the door. You program each cat in turn. Overall, great product and would recommend.

These lasted around 4 weeks before the low battery light came on. 2) To stop them crapping in the litter tray. I had to go and collect a parcel and stressed out came home early - to find two cats asleep upstairs.

! Better than cleaning a litter tray though. I used an Irwin hand saw to cut the trim off. One of my cats is a little timid but soon got the hang of it.
