It means the good guy's gonna win, and I do enjoy a happy ending. The only reason I didn't give this book 5 stars is because I felt it was too long-winded. Usually when plans are explained they go wrong. I recommend this as a book for listeners who enjoy high tech science fiction with quite a lot of satirical humour.
And that is the most exciting way to read a story, but sometimes I do like it when plans go accordingly. This story is dynamic in futuristic high tech adventurous ways. I want to be gripped by the actual story, rather than having to listen to tons of information on computer programming and processes.
I like fast-paced reads where the action is always happening. The battles he has to overcome in outer-space are exciting, but I know that each battle won't be too heart-hammering, and as I read on, all of Bob's plans succeeded. And that's another important aspect for me. Despite all of the above I did find the adventure in this book to be exciting.
I have to start by saying when I began listening to this book on audible, it reminded me of The Martian by Andy Weir, in that, I find both books to be overly-technical in nature for my usual reading preferences. I don't really enjoy hard science fiction with no room for any sense of self-awareness as laughs, which Bob embraces fully as a character. I sort of found myself wishing this was an abridged audiobook version of this story, simply because I like to find out what happens next in the action, rather than listening to a lot of technical detail. The story of Earth and the exploring he gets to experience is interesting.
I love how Bob contained his mind from succumbing to a meltdown.
