But they do open. Good size and no mess. The kids just love it and it is easy to roll up to transport elsewhere the younger of the two is particularly impressed with it and I think it's a great value mat that will provide hours of enjoyment. The rest of the items are good value for money, toddler doesn’t quite understand how to use just yet and just wants to drink the pens lol

The mat is supplied with a set of instructions, the water pens and some shapes to use as stamps. Lots of reviews saying the pens don’t open, I spent AGES trying to open them by turning.
