The characters all have their flaws and these are not sugar coated they are tackled head on and this shows the repercussions some of the things have on life of the flawed and those close to them. From the grumbling of subjects to the way she is yelled at to get ready and down the stairs will be relatable to every parent with teens or be a reminder of their own teenage years. There is a lot of hopping around from one character to the other which takes a little getting used to but before long you find it easy to differentiate between each character and begin to build an insightful bond with each of them by not hearing just what others thoughts are of them but to be able to hear from the character themselves too to see both sides of the story.

Our female leads are all developed beautifully where Jones sensitively discusses hardhitting problems. Beca is 16 with definite teenage attitude to match her age.
There is also Alys who is a bit wayward and complicated, who later joins the fray and readers can see life from her path too. Love Untold unwraps itself through alternating chapters - Grace, Beca and Elin. Then we have Erin who looks like the most in control, successful woman who has it all until things take a turn and her life and the way she knows it looks like it is about to turn on her head.
The characters she creates are well observed and it is easy to be hooked in and stay with them, through to the end, even through their complex lives of lies, betrayal and she has the art of making you, as a reader want to hold out to see how things can end. No matter the form, Ruth Jones has this gift. Beautiful story.
The sea envelops, capturing the reader in its waves with a sense of serenity, well, until the reality hits of being 2 months off of being 90 for Grace, then it becomes, momentarily sobering. She also has the skill to endear, which she does through Grace and her friends as well as taking readers through a gambit of emotions and leave satisfied in the end, but also with a layer of thought, shrouding you as you dwell on the unexpected, but very good end. Grace is head of the family and has her 90th birthday fast approaching and what a sprightly 90 year old she is.
