I am a lover of 'The Gruffalo' and 'Stickman' but I think this is my new favourite book by Julia Donaldson. I read this today for the first time with three year old son and he and I loved it! Great book to back up the charity work I do in schools with my Therapy dog. But beyond the mystery-solving fun, the book also has a heartwarming message about the joy of reading and the magic of libraries.

It's a wonderful reminder of the treasures waiting to be discovered within the pages of a book and the special role that libraries play in our communities. This book brings so much joy to my little three-year-old and she wants me to read it to her every night for bedtime. The children love it because the dog in the book is the same colour and has similar markings to my little Sheltie. In this heartwarming tale, we meet Detective Dog Nell, a clever canine with a knack for solving mysteries and a love for books.

It’s about friendship, forgiveness and most of all the sweetest dog Nell. Together with her trusty sidekick Peter, they embark on a series of adventures around town, sniffing out clues and unraveling mysteries like missing books/stolen stories. What I love most about this book is how Julia Donaldson weaves together a captivating story with enchanting rhymes and rhythmic prose.
