It was such a relief and made me so happy to rate it five stars. This book tells the story of Amara, daughter of a loving Doctor-father, but when he dies, Amara’s mother has no choice but to sell her as a slave, then becomes a concubine until she’s sold again to Felix, who runs Pompeii’s infamous brothel, the Wolf Den. ”This book is phenomenal and one that (thankfully) lives up to its hype. What I particularly liked was Amara's empathy for these characters, but also her challenges to them. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐭 𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐭 𝐬𝐨 𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐭, 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧, 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐲 𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬. This is the Wolf Den of the title. "𝐈 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝𝐧'𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐥𝐬𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐈 𝐬𝐚𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮.

Her father dies and she is then sold into slavery. Return back in time to Ancient PompeiiThe Wolf Den set in Pompeii – Imagine going to Pompeii and witnessing life in the city before it’s destruction by Mount Vesuvius. He’s cunning, he’s a bully, he’s manipulative, cut throat, violent - a really awful character.
