I must admit that when this bread maker arrived I was a bit concerned because as it had been described as ‘new’ it was clearly a product return with Dunelm labels stuck to the box and no paperwork or manual. The important thing is to put the ingredients into the bowl in the order…and weight as listed in the recipe. Lots of tweaking.

I bought this because I am gluten intolerant and sick of paying €4 or more for a loaf of bread full of rubbish that isn't even particularly nice, but I've struggled making my own GF bread in the past - it's really tricky! Still, I give it 5 stars & I would highly recommend it to anyone looking, especially someone just starting out!

I threw most of the loaf away. So I printed off the instructions from the Russell Hobbs site and set about making my first loaf of bread.

Was okay, decent flavour but soft. I have never had a bread maker before and it seems I am hopeless at making my own. To people who’ve bought this (and any other bread machine) if you are unhappy with the bread you produce I’d encourage you to tweak the recipe, I have never used the recipes that come with the machine. I have used most of the settings and all seem great except for the fast bake programme.

My initial thoughts on it were that it IS a big appliance, but it's compact and light enough to tuck away when not in use. I have found the darkest cooking setting not that dark brown so this may not be for you if you like a really dark crunchy loaf. 3 months in, and getting regular use.

Again, if this is your first machine then the paddle will in some recipe stay in the bread and you will need to prise it out. This machine is more compact than my KENWOOD was which is good in a small kitchen but can still deliver 3 sizes of loaves.

Usually a poor loaf is because of the ingredients possibly down to the the liquid content ratio. Haven't yet managed an ideal loaf.
