Suggested also for changing tires. As previous models did not stimulate the excited child inside. Second was a Milwaukee, third was a Stanley.

It is small compact and yet has brutal power to loosen bolts and set construction screws. 4 speeds, Self Tapper mode, Wood assist mode, Selection button (Meaning one handed use) what more could you ask for ? Great improvement on my previous impact dtd148 (still works). New dtd171 has 8 settings, plus a new button just above trigger to change in between settings instantly, third power setting is enough for most tasks however features do serve a purpose.

Tested with beta impact compasses and Milwaukee adapter can unscrew the narrow bolts with torque at 210 nm with 3/4 of the power. As usual from Makita the screwdrivers, I find the screwdrivers all super even though I'm a very critical person, this screwdriver fell on the ground after 2 moves like the first day, partly flew through the apartment and yet the part works perfectly!

The impact has so much power when needed. UNTIL NOW! The only drawback for me is the 1/4 inch collet sleeve, unlike the dewalt you have to pull the sleeve forward to insert & remove bits. Impressed is definitely an understatement.
