1. The scissors are quite a bit heavier than a string trimmer head so I also bought a shoulder strap which makes it all good. The first time I used this setup I was blown away. This is the best invention in the past 10 years.

This is a good substitute for the Stihl string trimmer, but string is a LOT cheaper than replacement scissor blades. There is no customer service number unless you want to call Japan. The replacement blade cost is the biggest negative! Torx T25 to attach the rotary scissors, a 5/32 (or 4 mm) hex and a 5/16 (or 3mm( wrench to inject grease into 3 places.

Transitioning from the string trimmer to the Rotary scissors takes about 20 minutes. The direction booklet is very poor. It appears all warranty issues would be very difficult to execute.

It cuts like butter and the scissors do not throw debris like a string trimmer does. The power of the Makita has no issues with operating the scissor head. Initially it is slow turning and stiff, but it starts rotating more easily after a few minutes.

The head comes with an adapter kit. Frequent greasing is messy, but it is a necessity for longevity. This is an easy install on a Makita battery powered setup.

You need: Torx T27 to remove the Stihl string trimmer. No scalping and it doesn’t sling grass everywhere like a string.
