If you could travel back in time, where would you go? I really liked the characters and the narratives journey throughout. conducted more closely than is usual! You begin to get really invested in the characters which grows with each book.

I myself am a big history fan and can only dream of being able to transport myself back in time to some of my favourite eras; Georgians, Romans, Victorians etc. After I finished reading I immediately looked to see if Jodi Taylor had written more and was pleased to see she had, at the time, published 4 more. This book teases that love of history and allows you to imagine a day when you can.

I've been glued to it which makes me thankful it's the first in a series. Imagine if you could truly understand the past and be able to clarify if written history is accurate. I can’t wait to read the other 9 books- the story does not end! This book is enchanting with well described characters, some with dark and sad pasts, a wonderful premise that has endless possibilities, all wrapped up in historical research.

Sprayed my edges to commerate 10 years of Jodi's books (that being said, started reading books in lockdown two years ago with Doing Time and just never stopped) - looking forward to more! Such a marvellous find and I would recommend them without hesitation. St Mary’s is founded on evidence and validating the past through observation, discovery and sometimes confrontation! This book really takes you on an adventure of discovery and time travel.
I'm not even kidding when I say this is the most interesting and innovative books I've read in the last 10 years! I find myself laughing out loud and the next moment I'm crying, with tears rolling down my face, and trying to hide it from my husband. I was so surprised that I kept reading out of curiosity - I have never been so glad! 8/10 🕰
