Reviews

Roasted Skulls

Cue the trademark death defying stunt work, fight scenes, explosions, shootouts and comedy that the series is well known for and this time on a bigger scale. There's also some genuinely funny moments along the way and it was great to have a bunch of returning characters from the previous two films make an appearance also. Jackie Chan and Michelle Yeoh make for a great pairing displaying their martial arts prowess and willingness to put their bodies on the line to pull off some amazing stunts that will leave you on the edge of your seat and wincing at the heavy knocks they take.

Supercop is fast-paced fun that hardly let's up once it gets going. Jackie Chan is back in his third outing as Inspector Chan Ka Kui as he's recruited to infiltrate a drug lord's organisation who's responsible for trafficking huge amounts of drugs across South Asia.

For the films' 30th anniversary Eureka has put out a 4K remastered stand-alone Blu-ray for those not opting to grab the 4K UHD trilogy box set and it looks fantastic! It's a lovely vibrant transfer with great detail. Accompanied by the tough no-nonsense Inspector Jessica Yang (played brilliantly by Michelle Yeoh) this undercover duo must watch eachother's backs at all times as they fight to keep their true identities and motives hidden from the ruthless and volatile drug lord and his henchmen. Also bundled inside the Blu-ray case is a booklet and 4 double-sided lobby cards and very nice artwork, both new and retro, on the Blu-ray sleeve.

The action takes viewers on a mini tour of Asia as we go from Hong Kong to mainland China on to Thailand and concludes in Malaysia. Though it doesn't quite capture the magic of the first film it's a little step up from part 2 which did drag in places and had a bit more of a serious tone.

Eureka's previous Blu-ray releases of both part 1 and 2 looked gorgeous also so I didn't feel the need to upgrade.
