Received it on Tuesday & have greedily devoured it at every available moment — work permitting. As this was a birthday gift I had no time to replace. The plot was complex, the characters were compelling and I didn’t guess the ending. The alternating chapter format – Strike’s POV, Robin’s POV, three channel chats - kept my attention and the pages turning.

Definitely not the case with this tome! As ever with Strike books, it's well written and intriguing.

Fabulous plot which made me gasp, laugh & cry. I am enjoying the book despite its length but one of the frustrating things is reading this on the kindle I’m almost unable to read the sections with the in game chats especially when reading at night .

I’m enjoying this book so far, except for one thing: I bought the Kindle version, and there are a number of pages consisting of chat room conversations, and these are in tiny print that can’t be increased in size, no matter how large a font size I pick. I love the main characters and can’t wait for the next book.

Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and reddit; trolling, ghosting and catfishing; ableism, the dark web and online gaming; the alt right, grooming and misogyny – The Ink Black Heart is not for the faint-hearted! Roll on the 2 years waiting for the next instalment.
