Setting this up was quite straightforward. My router is in the upstairs of the building next to my flat. Impossible to update the firmware on the extender, by following the instructions in the manual2. I even went as far as the edge of my property and could STILL get a good signal.

Dozens of errors occurred, where the firmware would not update to spec, and the Halo would not handshake with the extender under the current firmware version, and I kept TP-Link and XGIMI informed of my problems from the purchase date in April up to early July 2021. So I left it there for a 48 hours test.

I needed this to better connect my Nest Outdoor Cam that've installed in the garden just a shy of 2m away from a big glass sliding door. I work in IT myself, and problems like this stumped me for months.

From that point on, the Halo projector connected to the TP-Link extender successfully for the first time, and after experimenting with several different settings, I found the optimal setup on the 2. 4GHz band - 5 bars signal strength (set now as default)MIDDLE - Halo to the extender signal strength on the 5GHz band - 4 barsBOTTOM - Halo signal strength directly to the router on the 5GHz band, bypassing the extender - 3 barsThe location of the wifi extender is as pictured in the attached image, roughly halfway between the router and the projector and other devices.

I tried the extender in our dining room at the lowest range as it works well for our house. If you live in a large house, have thick walls and generally not getting the WiFi speeds that you should then it's worth a try.

Not only that, but upon testing the range, my phone can reach it from the other side of my son's static caravan which is the other side again to my gym! I tried with and without the ethernet cable, all from the same distance from my dining room table and the results speak for themselves. Meanwhile, my iPhone, MacBook Pro get the best reception on the 5GHz setting on the extender, while other devices adjacent to the router (iPad Pro and Windows PC), remain connected direct to the router, since they're in the same room. Virgin WiFi was very unreliable, often cutting out and with a weak signal.

Failed on the first attempt but worked on the second. The further away from it in one direction is one of my echo shows in the kitchen (4 rooms away), however, what I'm most impressed with is that my gym equipment and one of my echo dots can reach it easily from my home gym which is actually outside, opposite my ground floor flat.
