However the way on which it was shipped is quite frankly unacceptable. Obviously a fantastic drive for the money and great storage cap.

Speed is decent as advertised and total capacity was 1. The performance is really good so far, with noise being the only issue for me as my PC is small form factor, and the Barracuda Pro clicks, and spins when reading/writing but is more tame when its in idle. Simply put, this drive is pre-compromised out of the box, I shall not even risk putting in my rig and will be sending it right back! The downside occurs when data is deleted and that space is reused.

No bubble wrap, no clamshell box, nor any protection of any kind surrounded the component; not even a label on outer envelope stating 'fragile'. I have bought this brand first time and I can say it's looking to be good quality hard drive. !
