Very nice but expensiv! It takes a while for the honeymoon bliss to give way to the action sequence that usually precedes the titles, as Bond visits the nearby tomb of Vesper Lynd, giving another tie in, this time to Casino Royale. Bought blu-ray version for my dad for Christmas and it didn’t work, sent out a replacement and that also didn’t work.

Visually it is sumptuous, beautifully shot, great action sequences as you would expect, and with a tinge of sadness that Daniel Craig has walked away from a role which to my mind he has owned and developed into the second best Bond after Sean Connery, the definitive Bond. Spectre agents have already primed the tomb years ago with explosives for just such a visit, and there begins one of the very best pre-title sequences of this 25 film series as Bond manages to stagger away from the explosion, take out any number of chasing stooges and furiously shove his new wife, who he believes betrayed him into the classic Aston Martin DB5 and make good an escape from the Spectre agents. Watch it, bathe in the enjoyment and thrill in the excitement of Bond and of course the last film of Daniel being Bond … test my review and watch it! At 163 minutes this is by far the longest Bond film, but it seems fitting as it draws the threads of the previous four films together and doesn’t overstay its welcome – much, although after the shock of Bond’s death the scenes following feel a little tacked on.
