! I would highly recommend this book, it’s a slow burner but well worth it. There is something about the Hunger Games world that will always draw me in, therefore I would certainly not be opposed to Suzanne Collins writing more in this universe. Some of Snow’s traits, such as his ambition and hunger for power, were already rooted in him from the beginning of the book and motivated him throughout.

Kelly McFarland

I do not like to compare them, it is not possible to say that this book was in any way better or worse than the rest of the series as in my opinion they work well alongside each other in a complementary way. This book really takes you on a journey from the re-birth of the hunger games to the insides of Coriolanus Snows heart and mind. I love this book because it goes into dept to Snow personality and ensured my hatred to him. I was very apprehensive before reading this for two reasons, 1) The original trilogy is AMAZING, do we really need more and how could it possibly live up to it?

Outside he portrays the legacy of the legendary house of Snow but inside his life is falling apart- his four marble walls are closing in on him. The more I read the more I could justify to myself that he's never was a good seed.

I loved how nostalgic this book felt whilst I was reading it, I loved having the opportunity to immerse myself in the world of Panem once again. Also explores more life in the Capitol which is interesting to read.

Very descriptive and atmospheric. And 2) When the protagonist was announced, I was very unsure as to whether we need to hear from President Snow, can anything really justify or even explain his actions? Shows why the people of Panam see themselves as better than folk from the districts and can treat them so badly.

Amy Littleford

Lucy Grey was a great character and I loved that she wrote the Hanging Tree song that Katniss sings in the final film. Rather than being a justification for his actions, the book allows us to understand the series of events which led Snow to becoming who he was in the original series.
