There's children in the community but they're all girls, so what happened to the boys? Set in the near future when society is collapsing Miranda finds herself jobless, homeless and husband-less. I love a twist and this one has them!

Femlandia could exist and there's probably women out there with extreme radical feminist beliefs. After getting to Femlandia she realises that maybe this isn't the utopia that it first appears to be. America has suffered a huge economic collapse and right at the beginning of it, her husband Nick commits suicide. I was then very excited for Femlandia to be released.

BUT. It is a very hard read at times with a lot of mention of rape and sexual assault.

Miranda's character felt very well written. That's what makes her books so chilling and what has me pondering over what could be. These communes are free from men and are fully sustainable and self-sufficient.

Everything felt wrapped up and I was satisfied which is exactly how stand alones should be. Miranda never agreed with her mother that all men were evil and to be avoided, so Win took Miranda's best friend Jen Jones under her wing as she shared the same values.

Once again Christina Dalcher hits it outta the park with an incredible take on feminist dystopia. Dalcher can really paint a picture with words and everything is described in such a way that you can just imagine being there amongst it. Miranda thinks that maybe her only shot at staying alive is to join her closest one. Femlandia, the commune, is anti-trans women too so that is something to be aware of before reading.
